The thirteen angels were a group of handpicked angels by God who were tasked to descend to the human world to seek for his replacement. Each of the thirteen selected a human to be a God candidate. This selection would pave the way for the winning candidate to become the new God, with his or her angel winning the competition via proxy, and adapt to a new life in Celestial realm with them.
